Linden Firefighter's Mutual Benevolent Assoication Locals #34 & #234 are the represenatives for the Firefighters and Fire Officers for the Linden Fire Department.

We have the following events coming up and need members to help out with certain things.

 

On Thursday, September 8th, The City of Elizabeth will be holding a ceremony at the Waterfront Marina on Front Street. The FDNY Fireboat 343 will be dropping off 37 bicycle riders from the FDNY. They will be having a ceremony. After that, the riders will be leaving on their bicycle ride to the Pentagon.

 

On Friday, The Union County Chief's Association is looking for assistance with the set up of their memorial in Echo Lake Park in Mountainside starting around 9am. Any members that would like to help, please bring a pair of work gloves and wire cutters. They will be placing 343 individual flags in an area of the park to honor the 343 FDNY members killed on 9/11.

 

On Saturday, September 10th, The City of Linden is holding a dedication in front of City Hall at 11am. We will be doing a bell service. We would also like to have 5 members serving as a Color Guard. 5 members are needed as soon as possible. We currently have two members that volunteered.

 

On Sunday, September 11th, Linden FMBA Locals #34 & #234 will be holding a ceremony at City Hall starting at 10am. This is going to be similar to the services that have taken place over the past 9 years. We are in need of 5 members to serve as a Color Guard and 2 members to serve as Banner Holders. We currently have one member that volunteered.

 

On Sunday, September 10th & 11th, the Union County Fire Chief's Association is holding a Memorial in Echo Lake Park in Mountainside. They are looking for members to stand a two hour time block as a Honor Guard. We are tentatively looking at the 1400 to 1600 block on September 10th. We need a minimum of 6 members to staff the Honor Guard. We currently have 2 members that volunteered.

 

We need to have members step up as soon as possible. It is alright for members to participate in all 3 events. The total number of slots to be fill throughout the 3 days is 18 members.

 

Also, our meeting is this Thursday, September 8th. This is a joint meeting with Local #234. President Lavin as well as Vice President Bob Brower and Rich Mitutski will be on hand to address the membership in regards to the upcoming elections.

 

Lastly, if anyone has any of the coolers belonging to Local #34 & #234, please return them to Firehouse #1 as soon as possible. We need them for the Septmeber Convention starting next Monday.
